Back From Honeymooning(?) in Thailand - First Day

We're home! Or rather, I'm home! We just got back Saturday morning for Steve's event and he's off to India today. :-(

Anyway, good stuffs first.

This trip is long overdue because this is part of the wedding package from Hyatt. Since we're one of the first few couples who celebrated our wedding with them, we were given a honeymoon package! The package is inclusive of the roundtrip airfares, transfers and 3 days, 2 nights hotel stay.

Choices were Guam, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia (?). Initial choice was Guam because we were thinking we can go directly to the States after but since we already visited last December, we opted for Hua Hin, Thailand and we're glad of our choice.

There was a glitch though, Steve forgot that his company is having a huge event on the 28th, the day we're flying in...but since Hyatt has already booked us and tickets were issued already, we can no longer have it rebooked...so we ended up buying another ticket for an earlier flight...which sucks...more on this later...if I remember.

Hua Hin is a three hour drive or half an hour flight from Bangkok. But due to some government something, the flight to Hua Hin was cancelled, we had to drive to Hua Hin. We landed in BKK past 1pm already that only means that our first day is dedicated to just traveling...:-(

But, they made sure we are comfortable for the drive. We were picked up by a chauffe(u)r driven BMW 5 Series with cold water, cold towels and newspapers. Isn't that luxurious living? hehehe. Had a blooper in the car, we were on our 2nd hour in the car already when the driver asked if we want to go to toilet...I enthusiastically said yes because I thought he asked if we wanted to tour Thailand! Bwahahahah Steve was laughing his ass off.

Hua Hin I'd say is like Cebu but not as "metropolitan". I was amazed with how much they look up to their King and Queen, pictures of the couple were all over the town...we later found out that the couple were there, in the same island that we're at! Too bad I didn't get to rub elbows with the King and Queen, haha!

When we stepped out of the car, the heat was just overwhelming but seeing how pretty the place is made us forget that we're sweating double time. We had another fresh cold towel and their signature Barai tea, a mixture of lemongrass, honey and ginger, it was super yummy!! It reminded me of melted Halls Lemon candy, bwahahahha. But it's really good.

While checking in, the concierge asked us if we wanted to upgrade to a suite room for a certain fee seeing that we're honeymooners. They could have just offered the upgrade for free, but no, we have to pay for it, so screw it. Well, the upgrade is really just from 2nd floor to the 1st floor, which would make us few steps away from the pool, hahaha quite stupid actually.

So, after checking out the room, we changed to our swimsuits right away because the day is almost over, we have to make most out of our remaining first day in the resort.

We walked around and quite impressed with the place, the design reminded me of Amanpulo but the layout reminded me of Plantation Bay. There were more foreigners in the resort than locals. We walked to the beach but it's nothing compared to Boracay, sand is perfectly powdery and fine but the water is not just as pretty. And it didn't help that we saw an area with horse poop, hahahahahaha no way, we'd get in the water after seeing those piles of shit, hahaha :-D

We went back to the pool area and attempted to get a tan...from the setting sun, harhar.

It was really just relaxing and getting into the vacation mode. After an hour or two, we headed back to our room and readied for dinner. There are two main restaurants in the resort, a Thai and Italian Restaurants.

Another blooper, while scouting for a place to eat, before finding out that it's an Italian restaurant, the receptionist was telling us what it was and I thought she said Korean, so I nodded knowingly and said, ah, Korean, neat and looked at Steve...and he said, "Korean? She said Italian" and I was like, huh?. So we asked the receptionist and she said Italian. Harhar. I was already laughing at myself, either I am deaf or I really just can't understand them, Steve told the girl, "I'm sorry, my wife can't speak English". LOL

Since we're in Thailand, we went for the Thai restaurant. Nice setup. But the food was so so, I've had better tasting Thai food. The curry dish was sweet...I liked it coz I love anything sweet but I would have enjoyed it more if it was spicy. Food shots in photo section. :-)

After dinner, we walked around a bit and headed back to the room and get some rest so we can start early the next day.
