I'm bored and not sleepy at all. Steve's away so I'm home alone. :-(
Our second day in the resort was pretty relaxing. Woke up just early enough to catch the breakfast buffet and I don't regret waking up for it, food selection is good and tasty.
We get to enjoy the sun and the pool today, soaked up the sun and got some color...actually, we only stayed under the sun for about half an hour. It's time for me to use whitening lotion again, hahahaha.
Steve and I agreed that we'll get a massage today, so after spending time by the pool, we showered and changed to either check out the spa or check out the city.
We were both amazed with the design of the spa, it was just awesome!! Never seen such a lovely place and we haven't seen the main spa area yet! The spa's booked when we went there so we had to schedule our massage hours later. So we're off to check out the city for some shopping (for me) and real Thai food.
Steve Googled Hua Hin and for a shopping area/mall...so that's where we're off to. We went to Hua Hin Market Village, it's a pretty new mall. And so un-Thai-ed. Stores were blah, so totally no shopping for me. Restaurants were either Chinese, Japanese or American. Totally disappointing. Only to find out later that Hua Hin was famous for food!!! We didn't do enough research!! Food was so good that people go there to eat and the King orders Mango with Sticky Rice just from a place there!! Right outside the resort!!! GGRRRR
After checking out the entire mall for a Thai restaurant, there was not even one Thai restaurant in there! We went to MK, it's a Chinese hotpot place...MK is I guess a food chain in Thailand coz we saw a lot of it in Bangkok as well. Food was so so, we've had better hotpot and roast duck. Dessert was at Swensens, had their Mango and Coconut with Sticky Rice. Not so bad. We had to get back to the resort for our spa appointment. We rode the Tuk Tuk :)
We paid 100 Baht for the ride, I was just about to haggle for the price when Steve said OK. There goes my haggling talent, hahaha :)
Ok, now for the good part, the spa.
The place was so huge!! It made me feel like an Arabian Princess while inside. I don't know why Arabian of all possible Princesses out there...hahahaha.
Earlier that day, we already chose the treatments we wanted. Oh, another blooper here, I was asking what a treatment was and the girl said it's the Barai's signature treatment...gawd, I thought she said a bride's signature treatment!! So I went like, oh, that's not for me anymore...and I was about to say I'm married already when Steve said, "Barai, the name of the place", bwahahahahah!! I clean my ears every day!!
I'm getting the Warm Coconut Milk Compress - Drawing from traditional Lao beauty rituals, this four-hand massage begins with a gentle skin exfoliation using deep-cleansing fruit acids. Poultices of rice and black sesame seeds soaked in warm, fragrant coconut milk are then massaged onto the body and an application of rich lotion leaves skin incredibly soft.
I think it's the four-hand massage and the coconut milk that made me choose this.
Steve's having their Traditional Thai Massage - Traditional Thai acupressure administers pressure to specific points along the body’s meridian lines in order to release muscle tension and clear energy blockages. Long used to promote the free flow of energy within the body, this massage contributes to an overall sense of well-being and is an indispensable component of traditional Thai therapy.
As we were being ushered to our own private room, the walk seemed like forever. It was a big high-walled, open ceiling complex.
For our own room, we had our own changing room with his and hers area, our own main massage room and our own shower room...with lounge beds, jacuzzi and open ceiling shower area. If that's not luxurious living, I don't know what is.
For my treatment, aside from the numerous showers I had to take, it was quite nice. After my treatment, I've never felt so much cleaner. Before starting the treatment, I showered.
Didn't know that first part of the treatment was a body scrub. so after that, I took a shower.
2nd part was the warm coconut milk, well, it was real warm coconut milk, so unless I want ants to attack me, I really had to rinse it off.
Last part was the part that I really wanted in the first place, the massage :-( But I guess, just to experience it all was well worth it.
Oh, I forgot about the four-hand massage, just made me feel so so so pampered!! But instead of just enjoying it and relaxing, I was wide awake observing if the strokes will be executed at the exact same time, hahahahaha.
Steve fell asleep, I think that's enough said about his treatment.
We both ended the night satisfied and relaxed...either by the massage or something else, up to you to decide. *wink*
